Royal Steensma reacts accordingly to corona virus

Royal Steensma is taking the threat involving the corona virus very seriously. The safety and health of our employees and business partners always have our highest priority. Therefore we are keeping a very close eye on the COVID-19-Situation. We would like to inform you on how we are dealing with this situation.

In different regions of the world, the COVID-19 (coronavirus) has been identified.
All authorities of the affected regions are investigating the virus and the source of the infections. They are taking preventive measurements to prevent spreading of the virus.

On 30 January 2020, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared that the outbreak of 2019-nCoV constitutes a PHEIC, a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

The virus can be transmitted from person/animal to person. The virus cannot survive well outside the body. The outgrowth of the virus on cardboard and other packaging material is excluded. Other Corona viruses do not spread in this way. According to RIVM (National Institute for Public Health in The Netherlands), there is no reason to assume that this is different to this new Corona virus.

After the Dutch government held a press conference on March 12th with regard to the Corona virus, Royal Steensma B.V. has tightened up its protective measures and applies these measures immediately and initially up to 31st of March.

In short these are the protective measures Royal Steensma B.V. is taking:

  • Meetings with more than 100 people are prohibited.
  • Employees who exhibit signs of the virus, such as coughing, a sore throat or fever, should stay at home and avoid social contacts.
  • External visits, supplier visits and / or customer visits are cancelled.
  • Sales and Account Managers are to work from home.
  • Employees are not allowed to visit other Royals Steensma B.V. ​​locations.
  • Entrance doors are locked, employees can only enter using their tag.
  • Any other necessary precautions are being taken.
     

Raw materials
All raw materials that are being used by Royal Steensma B.V. and that come from Italy and China are limited to a minimum. The materials mentioned do not come from animal sources.

All products are packaged in primary (plastic) and secundary (cardboard and/or) plastic packaging. Raw materials from China are shipped to The Netherlands via cargo. This transport takes about two months to arrive. Upon arrival the products are stored in a contained warehouse, before being transported to the various plants of Royal Steensma B.V. by truck. Chances of contamination are very slim.

Risk Plaza
Royal Steensma B.V. would like to point out that we are Risk Plaza certified, which is a credited auditing system, created to minimise risk with food ingredients.

Our stock is sufficient in order to maintain supply to our customers. At this moment we do not foresee a shortage in the future, which the exception of ginger. For the time being we also have enough stock of that product as well.
